Kaylin and Hunter’s summer wedding at Steamboat Resort is a testament to the power of love, and the power of mother nature! This beautiful couple had the perfect attitude when their wedding day ended up being windier than expected, and seamlessly rolled with the punches to ensure an incredible and memorable day despite the unforeseen weather.

The day began at the Steamboat Grand where Kaylin and her bridal party got their hair and make-up done. Once they were finished, the group headed up the gondola at Steamboat Resort to Four Points Lodge where they would put the finishing touches on their looks. Kaylin’s bridal party took on the imperative task of steaming her veil before the ceremony and executed with perfection!

As the afternoon continued, the wind began to pick up and it became clear that outdoor photos with family and close friends prior to the ceremony would not be a good idea. Kaylin and Hunter decided to switch up the timeline (with a little help from the HDE team!) and do their ‘letter exchange’ readings in new locations to avoid unfavorable weather. Hunter provided Kaylin with a unique video letter that had everyone tearing up! We love to see couples put their own spin on new trends and/or old traditions.

As guests arrived at the venue it was all hands-on deck! The HDE team successfully fixed a broken wedding arch, hung flowers at the ceremony site, and sewed the bride’s dress back together after a small tear occurred. The wind died down *just* enough to continue with the outdoor ceremony overlooking the stunning Yampa Valley, and Kaylin and Hunter made their marriage official with the help of family and friends.

Kaylin and Hunter had two unique parts of their ceremony that our team loved to see. First and foremost, they had two officiants, their grandparents! Secondly, the couple also decided to take a moment at the start of their ceremony and honor each of their parents with flowers, which was a sentimental addition to the proceedings.

Once the ceremony was complete, family and friends joined the happy couple to finally take some outdoor photos! By the time, the sunset came around, the wind was perfectly blowing in a fake ‘Hollywood’ kind of way, which resulted in some incredible shots of the bride and groom. Kaylin changed into her after-party outfit, and the couple danced the night away to tunes from DJ Liam Grist.

Kaylin and Hunter’s wedding was a great lesson for all Rocky Mountain wedding couples-to-be – even if the weather turns sour, the right attitude and the power of love can make it all part of the adventure. If HDE has learned anything from executing weddings in rain, snow, wind, and sleet, it would be that Rocky Mountain couples need to be prepared for anything – and you can bet that HDE is prepared too! Thank you to Kaylin and Hunter for allowing us to be a part of your special day.
